Hunter and Jumper Competition Returns to Historic Balmoral Park
HITS Chicago is off to a great start with Showplace Spring Classic I which finished on Sunday. Historic Balmoral Park has been revamped and is an oasis for hunter and jumper competition, with improvements made throughout the showgrounds meeting rave reviews after the first week of competition. From the newly built Hunter Ring 2 to additional shaded seating for viewing competition at every ring, HITS Chicago is the place to be this spring and summer. In the meantime, take a look at some of our featured class winners from the opening week of the HITS Chicago Circuit.

Taking home the first blue ribbon of the HITS Chicago season was Lisa Goldman for her ride aboard NIKE. With a time of 38.784, this team would claim top honors in the $5,000 Johnson Horse Transportation Open Welcome.

2nd Place: Adeline Rohrbach & VALLADAM (39.683)
3rd Place: Goldman & BENGTSSON VDL (38.455)

The week continued with the $10,000 HITS Jumper Prix where Taylor Flury took home first place in a fault free time of 37.602 aboard CALANO Z.

2nd Place: Goldman & HINDSIGHT (37.992)
3rd Place: Shannon Sullivan & DOWNTOWN’S MAIN EVENT (40.004)

T. Flury returned to the Winner’s Circle for her ride aboard CLEARVILLE in the $5,000 Marshall & Sterling 1.35m Jumper Classic, crossing the timers in 38.496.

2nd Place: Laura Roesing & DARCO’S LYNX (39.823)
3rd Place: Taylor McMurtry & ESCADA 289 (41.882)

T. Flury would round out her week with a blue ribbon finish in the $25,000 HITS Grand Prix aboard CALANO Z, finishing the jump-off with a clear round in a time of 35.562 to secure first place in the first Grand Prix of the season at HITS Chicago.

3rd Place: T. Flury & CARRASCA Z (37.520)

 
It was a special week for hunters as well, with the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby in the Grand Hunter Ring.
Molly McAdow was awarded the blue ribbon in the featured Hunter class for her ride aboard V. CASSARO. This duo scored an 86 in the first round, followed with another 86 in the second round for an overall score of 174.

3rd Place: McAdow & LUIZ DOS SANTOS (165)

With the Spring Show season underway, don’t forget to check the qualifying points and nominate your green hunter for the HITS Championship! The HITS Championship is held annually during Week VIII of the HITS Saugerties Series.

The USHJA National Hunter Derby counts as a qualifying class for Junior and Amateur riders towards the Platinum Performance Hunter Prix Finals. Nominate you Green Hunter for the Stal Hendrix Green Hunter Futurity at the HITS Championship The Stal Hendrix Green Hunter Futurity pays out $25,000 PLUS all of the nomination fees at the Championship.
