Chapot Ends the Summer Series on a High Note

The HITS-on-the-Hudson Summer Series is a wrap! The three-week series brought blue ribbons, champion titles, and featured winners in special class offerings in the Wilmington Trust Grand Prix Stadium and the Outside Course. From qualifiers for the Marshall & Sterling Insurance League Finals and HITS Championship to wrapping the week with the Children’s Hunter Pony Finals and high-performance Hunter and Jumper competition, Week VI was celebrated with amazing performances from ring-to-ring!

Roberto Teran claimed the first blue ribbon of the featured Open Jumper classes at HITS-on-the-Hudson VI for his ride aboard DIABOLO LA QUADRA in the $5,000 Johnson Horse Transportation Open Welcome in a time of 39.458.

2nd Place: Declan Egan & QUOINTREAU UN PRINCE (41.092)
3rd Place: Laura Chapot & ZEALOUS (37.909, 4-Faults)
The second blue ribbon in the featured class line up was awarded to Sarah Segal and PERFORMANCE EP in the $10,000 HITS Jumper Classic on Thursday afternoon. Segal raced through the timers in 39.100 to take the lead.

2nd Place: Chapot & GIDEON (39.260)
3rd Place: Anthony Sauriol & PBM CASCADA MI CASA (40.149)
A sweet victory, just clinching the lead in a time of 34.763, was awarded to David Raposa and ILIONA in the $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix.

2nd Place: Madison Goetzmann & PRESTIGIOUS (34.996)
3rd Place: Chapot & CHANDON BLUE (36.281)

Chapot 
rose to the top of the standings on Saturday afternoon for her ride aboard SHOOTING STAR in the $10,000 Saugerties Steamboat Co. Jumper Classic. A time of 43.394 secured the lead for this consistently fast team. Not only did Chapot take top honors, but she also took home the other two positions in the top three!

2nd Place: Chapot & UMBERTO (43.500)
3rd Place: Chapot & ZEALOUS (44.150)

Sunday kicked-off with Junior and Amateur riders taking the spotlight in the Wilmington Trust Grand Prix Stadium. Tori Corts rode BLACK PEARL to victory in the $2,500 Pyranha Jr/A-O/Am 1.20m Jumper Classic.

The blue ribbon in the $5,000 Summit Joint Performance Jr/A-O/Am 1.30m Jumper Classic went to Savannah Unger & FUNDAMENT E.

Francesca Bolfo took home the first place prize in the $7,500 Jr/A-O/Am 1.40m Jumper Classic aboard JADALCO.

Chapot joined the Winner’s Circle yet again during the Summer Series and added to her list of wins with the blue ribbon in the $50,000 Back on Track Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. Chapot and OUT OF IRELAND raced through the timers in 42.989 to produce the only double clear round to secure the win.

2nd Place: Goetzmann & PRESTIGIOUS (42.147, 4-Faults)
3rd Place: Andrew Ramsay & STRANGER 30 (48.396, 4-Faults)
 
It was a one-two finish for Meghan Knapic as she joined the Winner’s Circle aboard ENCORE to be award top honors in the $1,500 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix with scores of 83 and 87 for a total of 170.

2nd Place: Knapic & HAVING SAID THAT (168.5)
3rd Place: Anna Leighton & E JAZZ (160)

Knapic and ENCORE continued their winning ways on Sunday in the USHJA National Hunter Derby, taking home the blue ribbon with scores of 86 and 88 for an overall score of 176.

2nd Place: Rebecca St. Onge & LUCAYA (158)
3rd Place: Lena Rae Reeb & CALL ME (156)
Taking home top honors in the third and final $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby of the HITS Saugerties Derby Tour was Hannah Isop for her ride aboard BELIEVE. Isop produced two great rides to be awarded scores of 182 and 197, combining for a score of 379 and the win.

2nd Place: Jennifer Jones & VIRGO DC (368)
3rd Place: Laena Romand & UPTOWN (366)
It was a special week at HITS with the Children’s Hunter Pony Finals presented by Mona’s Monograms. The finals took place over two days and three rounds of competition; the Model (20% of Overall Score), Under Saddle (30% of Overall Score), and Over Fences (50% of Overall Score). Riders compete for Grand Champion in their size as well as for Overall Grand Champion of all three sizes.

Taking home the Grand Champion title of the Children’s Hunter Pony Finals Small Section was Madison McHugh and CLOVERMEADE BROTHER BUNNY with an overall score of 81 after three rounds of competition.

2nd Place: Cooper Spacek & AIN’T THAT A KICK (74.3)
3rd Place: Sophie Sobkowiak & CLOVERMEADE BRILLIANT BUNNY (72.2)
The standings were close in the Children’s Hunter Pony Medium Section. Sami Zebersky and HOPSCOTH scored a 77.4, just one point ahead of second place, to take home the Champion title.

2nd Place: Jenna Bach & WOODLANDS CHURCHILL (76.4)
3rd Place: Elenour Horrigan & GONE FISHIN’ (75.8)
The standings in the Large Section of the Children's Hunter Pony Finals were also tight. Ultimately, Anastasia Klyashtorny and I SPY A RAINBOW took the Champion title with the top score of 82.2 after all three rounds of competition.

2nd Place: Natalie Shin & EFFERVESCENT (81.8)
3rd Place: Horrigan & BLUE ON BYE (80.2)

The Overall Grand Champion was crowned after three sections of the Children’s Hunter Pony Finals completed as Klyashtorny and I SPY A RAINBOW took with their high score of 82.2.

2nd Place: Shin & EFFERVESCENT (81.8)
3rd Place: McHugh & CLOVERMEADE BROTHER BUNNY (81)
