Week II of the HITS Chicago Equifest Series is a Wrap!

The HITS Chicago Equifest Series has concluded its second week of competition at Lamplight Equestrian Center. Equifest II was host to USEF-Rated Premier Hunter/Jumper 4* competition that featured a $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix, $50,000 HITS Grand Prix, $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby, and a $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby. Read on to catch up on the week's big winners!


The first highlighted Jumper competition of the week was Wednesday's $2,500 HITS Open Welcome. Stephen Foran and COLOUR YOUR DAY were the only team to jump clean, earning the blue ribbon with a time of 76.472. 
 
  • 2nd Place: Charlie Jayne & ONE AND ONLY [4-faults, 74.173]
  • 3rd Place: Foran & CASSIUS 74 [4-faults, 80.614]


Caelinn Leahy took the top spot in Thursday's $5,000 1.35m Jumper Classic aboard HALO. The duo cleanly navigated the jump-off with a quick time of 29.912. 

  • 2nd Place: Melissa Lesch & FAMIEBUR B [33.188]
  • 3rd Place: Hanna Egan & EASTPOINT JB [4-faults, 32.388]
 

 

The $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix took place on Friday, with Brian Murphy and DENISON PARK COMBAT besting the field by over two seconds. No other team could match their clear round completed in only 36.261.

  • 2nd Place: Amanda Flint & HUDSON [38.808]
  • 3rd Place: Rachel Lindsey & COMANDER 16 [40.116]

 

 

On Saturday, Murphy once again found his way to the top of the podium, this time aboard CAPTAIN LUTZ in the $10,000 HITS Open Jumper Prix. The team wasn't the fastest, with a jump-off time of 36.111, but they were the only to jump clean in both rounds. 

  • 2nd Place Jonathan Cohen & LANDER [4-faults, 34.25]
  • 3rd Place: Tiffany Lee & MILADY DES BRUYERES [4-faults, 37.99]
 
 
Lindsey and COMANDER 16 and Flint and HUDSON finished their week on a high by winning Sunday's $50,000 HITS Grand Prix. They each improved on their finishes earlier in the week by completing the first round with no faults and opting out of the jump-off.

There were two featured Derbies for the Hunters this week. Friday played host to the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby. For the second week in a row, Jennifer Alfano took the win, this time aboard ENZO W. They earned scores of 86.5 in the first round and 92 in the second round for a total of 178.5 to best the field by only a half-point!

  • 2nd Place: Lauren Underhill & ABUDABI [178]
  • 3rd Place: Katana Kennedy O'Brien & IPANEMA [177]
 
The stakes were raised even higher on Saturday with the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby. With scores of 178 and 190 for a total of 368, Marisa Metzger and CAVITO 2 earned the winner's trophy.
