Beautiful Weather and Blue Ribbons at HITS Culpeper

Featured Hunter, Jumper and Equitation Class Winners at the Showday National

The 2019 edition of the HITS Culpeper Series continues with red, white, and a whole lot of blue [ribbons] at the Showday National. Commonwealth Park is host to six weeks of USEF-Rated competition from April through September, with classes ranging from Leadline to the $20,000 Open Prix.

The Series is back underway with the two-week July Series and a week of patriotism in the heart of Virginia's horse country. Named "The Best Small Town in Virginia", the town of Culpeper hosted Fourth of July Celebrations with great food and an amazing fireworks display. 

Agustin Rosales and CAPELIUS S took home the first blue ribbon at the Showday National in the $5,000 Open Welcome. As a speed class, riders had the goal of leaving all the rails in the cups and completing the course in the fastest time. Rosales did just that as he crossed the timers in 73.549.

2nd Place: Shelly Zimmerli & CHARDONAY HARAS DES BARRAGES (74.201)
3rd Place: Tracy Magness & INTENZ VAN HD (75.133)

Friday afternoon, exhibitors were treated to a “5th of July” celebration party during the $10,000 Johnson Horse Transportation Prix - It was Matthias Hollberg who took the blue ribbon aboard RF SOUTHERN COMMAND in a time of 45.505.

2nd Place: Gillian Beale-King & KILLBUNNY VOSSILLI (46.642)
3rd Place: Bree Rosales & CALIFORNIA PJ (46.705)

Juliette Landis 
& SHIRAZ kicked-off Sunday morning by securing top honors in the $2,000 Marshall & Sterling Children's/Adult Jumper Classic.

Taking home the blue ribbon in the $2,500 Pyranha Jr/A-O/Am 1.20m Jumper Classic was Emma Pell & SANTOS.

Lucy Matz & BAILEY VI claimed victory in the $4,000 Jr/A-O/Am 1.30m Jumper Classic.

Finishing with the only clear round in the $5,000 Jr/A-O/Am 1.40m Jumper Classic was Tamara Morse for her ride aboard RAVENNA ADELHEID Z to take first place.

Sunday afternoon was host to the featured class of the week, the $20,000 HITS Open Prix. Under a beautiful sunny sky, it was Will Coleman securing the blue ribbon for his ride aboard TROPICS in a time of 38.059.

2nd Place: Cian McDermott & FELICIANO VAN DOL OTTERDIJK (40.722)
3rd Place: Hollberg & RF SOUTHERN COMMAND (4-Faults, 36.780)
 
It was a special week for hunters, with the Devoucoux and the Platinum Performance Hunter Prix in the Grand Hunter Ring where qualifying points for the HITS Championship were awarded in each class. Remember, qualifying points can be accumulated at any HITS show throughout the year for the HITS Championship held each September in Saugerties, New York. Standings are updated and posted to HITSShows.com!

Topping the field in the $1,500 Devoucoux Hunter Prix was Winn Alden for her ride aboard VINSKI TT. Alden scored an 86 in the first round and repeated that in the second round for an overall score of 172.

2nd Place: Amy Zettler & PRIMROSE PATH (166)
3rd Place: Alden & HEARTBREAKER (159)

Scores of 85 and 87, for a total of 172, secured the blue ribbon for Brooke Cole and EMOJI (right) in the $1,000 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix.

2nd Place: Jordyn Holcomb & KING CITY (165)
3rd Place: Alexandra Carroll & CHINCHINO (164)

HITS Culpeper is host to the Culpeper Equitation Classic, a class is designed for Junior, Amateur, Children, and Adult riders showing at 3’ or 3’6”. The rider who accumulates that most points throughout the season will automatically qualify for their respective Medal Final at the Marshall & Sterling Insurance League National or Indoor Finals. Taking home the blue ribbon in the Culpeper Equitation Classic at the Showday National was Shannon Dickinson.
