Cavalier Classic at HITS Culpeper has Concluded!

The third week of competition for the HITS Culpeper Summer Series is a wrap at HITS Commonwealth Park with Hunter, Jumper and Equitation classes in the spotlight throughout the week. Riders and horses looked exceptional in the show ring this week in the 'Heart of Virginia's Horse Country'. Cavalier Classic was host to USEF-Rated National 4* Hunter/Jumper competition that featured a $10,000 HITS Open Prix, $20,000 HITS Open Prix, and a $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby. On Wednesday, the Grand Prix Field hosted the $5,000 HITS Open Welcome where Danny Mahon and FIREFLY 41 bested the field in 70.65 with no faults to secure the win. Mahon had a one-three finish in the first featured Jumper class of the week!

opping the field in Friday's $10,000 HITS Open Prix was Samantha Tuerk aboard CAMRYN. Finishing with zero-faults in a speedy time of 42.28, Tuerk claimed the blue ribbon by over three seconds in the jump-off round!

The exciting $20,000 HITS Open Prix took place on Saturday where Ann De Michele and CANMORE 2 rose to the top of the leaderboard. This duo secured top honors as one of two clear rounds in the jump-off in a quick 45.357 to take home the winner's trophy. Mahon also had a successful week by placing in the top three in three featured Jumper classes!

In the Hunter Ring this week, Jaime Gibson and VALERIAN once again led the way in the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby by earning top scores of 89 in the first round and 87 in the second round. Taking home a blue ribbon in this featured Hunter class for the second week in a row, Gibson finished with an impressive total score of 176.
