ELIGIBILITY: 
The top 50 riders from the East Coast NCEA ranking list will be invited to compete in the Finals.  Riders accumulate points in NCEA Medal classes offered at recognized USEF and Equine Canada licensed competitions. Riders will compete in the NCEA Medal ranking list (East, Midwest or West) based on their address submitted to the NCEA membership office, unless at the time of membership they elect to compete in the other coast finals.   

QUALIFYING PERIOD: All points won in NCEA classes held at shows starting on August 20, 2017 through August 19, 2018 will count towards the Finals for the 2018 year. 

CONDITIONS & SPECIFICATIONS:  To consist of Three Phases. Fences 3’3”. To be judged under the Open Numerical Scoring system. Competitors must ride the same horse in Phases 1 and 2.

Phase 1 - Over Fences - To be held over a course of at least 10 fences including a double and a triple combination, with at least two changes of direction. Hunter-style and jumper-style fences are allowed; water obstacles and liverpools are not permitted. The top ten riders, or 20%, whichever is greater, will return for the Flat phase.

Phase 2 - Flat - To be shown at the Walk, Trot and Canter both directions of the ring. Tests to include any of the USEF Tests 1-19 as well as at least two lateral movements of shoulder in, haunches in or leg yield. The top four riders, as determined by the combined scores of the jumping and flat phases (the jumping and flat phases to count equally) will return for the Bracket phase. In the event of a tie for any of the top four places, the score from Phase 1 (Over Fences) will be used to break the tie.

Phase 3 - Bracket Style - The First and Fourth place riders will compete on the same horse over a course of at least 8 fences riding the horse of the Second or Third place rider with the horse to be chosen by the judge. The Second and Third place riders will compete on the same horse over a course of at least 8 fences riding the horse of the First or Fourth place rider with the horse to be chosen by the judge. The winners of each head-to-head will compete for Champion and Reserve on the same horse. The other two riders will compete head to head for third and fourth place.

SCORING:  Scores from Phase 1 and 2 will be added to determine the top 4 to compete in Bracket Phase, and to determine placings fifth through tenth. Champion, Reserve, Third and Fourth place will be determined by the final Bracket ride-off. In the event of a tie for any place, the score from Phase 1 will be used to break the tie.

TACK & EQUIPMENT: Conventional tack per USEF EQ105.5.

ORDER OF GO: he Order-of-go for Phase 1 will be drawn on Friday, the day before the competition.

AWARDS: 

Trophy and Cooler for Overall Champion, Prizes and Ribbons 1-10 for Overall.
