HITS-on-the-Hudson V is a Wrap!

The second week of the HITS Saugerties Summer Series, presented by Alliant Private Client, has concluded at HITS-on-the-Hudson in upstate New York. This exciting week featured USEF Premier Hunters and 5* Jumpers, and FEI CSI4* competition including a $54,600 SmartPak Welcome and a $213,300 Purina Animal Nutrition Grand Prix. This week also included a $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby and the USHJA Jumper Team Championship for Zone 1 and 2. Keep reading for a recap of the champions and results!

 

Kicking off Jumper competition on Wednesday was the $5,000 HITS Open Welcome where Christine McCrea finished one-three aboard LOEKI VAN HET LINDEHOF and FAVORITA DE MUZE. McCrea's winning round was the only fault-free jump-off in 52.329, proving to be unbeatable in the first featured Jumper class of the week.

  • 2nd Place: Sophee Steckbeck & CLARIMA [4-Faults, 45.774]
  • 3rd Place: McCrea & FAVORITA DE MUZE [4-Faults, 50.757]

The first FEI CSI4* competition of the week was the $54,600 SmartPak Welcome, presented by Alliant Private Client, where Todd Minikus continued his winning streak from last week in the Grand Prix Stadium. Riding AMEX Z, Minikus completed a clean jump-off in 40.03, claiming first place by over two seconds.

  • 2nd Place: Jordan Coyle & BOSTON ASK [42.43]
  • 3rd Place: Conor Swail & VITA CHANCE DE LA ROQUE [42.85]

 

 

In Friday's $36,000 Saugerties FEI CSI4* Classic, Coyle executed an impressive one-three finish aboard CENTRIKO VOLO and ERISTOV. Crossing the timers in a quick 37.23 with no faults, Coyle secured his place at the top of the podium.

  • 2nd Place: Swail & COUNT ME IN [39.36]
  • 3rd Place: Coyle & ERISTOV [4-Faults, 35.78]

Topping the field in the $10,000 HITS 1.40m Jumper Classic on Friday was Delaney Flynn and ISABELLE. This was the only team to jump clear in the jump-off round in a time of 43.227, which awarded them the coveted winner's trophy.

  • 2nd Place: Steckbeck & CLARIMA [4-Faults, 45.361]
  • 3rd Place: Maria Costa & ICEMAN B SFN [4-Faults, 48.039]

 

Moving into the weekend, Walker Pozzi and DOLCE led the way in the $10,000 Saugerties Steamboat Jumper Classic, successfully completing one of three no-fault jump off rounds. Securing first place in a time of 42.254, the top three finishers were all within fractions of a second!

The final FEI CSI4* competition of the week was the $213,300 Purina Animal Nutrition Grand Prix presented by Alliant Private Client on Saturday. After placing in several featured Jumper classes earlier in the week, Swail claimed victory aboard VITAL CHANCE DE LA ROQUE as the only clear round in 75.29.

  • 2nd Place: Daniel Bluman & UBILIC [1-Fault, 82.56]
  • 3rd Place: Coyle & CENTRIKO VOLO [4-Faults, 74.49]

Closing out a week of exciting highlighted Jumper competition was the $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix where Luis Sabino and COCO CHANEL M bested the field with the only clear round of the day. With no jumping faults and a time of 83.965, Sabino was awarded the blue ribbon.

  • 3rd Place: Swail & THEO 160 [4-Faults, 80.699]
 
USHJA JUMPER TEAM PLATINUM JUMPER CHAMPIONSHIP - ZONE 1 & 2
 
The USHJA Platinum Jumper Championship consisted of Professionals, Juniors and Amateurs, offering team and individual competition and an opportunity to qualify for continued education with top national and international industry experts. The Championships offer team and individual competition and use a cumulative scoring format with the first round and individual final held as overlay classes with special 1.40/1.45m open classes held at the American Standard, and the team competition classes are held as standalone classes.

The Hunter Stadium and Outside Course hosted several derbies and Hunter prix over the weekend during HITS-on-the-Hudson V including a $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby on Saturday. Securing top honors with two elegant rounds was Hannah Isop aboard BELIEVE, earning impressive scores from the panel of judges of 175 and 196 for a grand total of 371.

  • 2nd Place: Kristen Bumpus & DIADORA [360.5]
  • 3rd Place: Isop & CLEM BRECOURT [360]

Saturday was also host to a $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby in the Outside Course where Molly Sewell and HIGHLANDER earned the crowning blue ribbon with two scores of 89 to finish with an unbeatable total score of 178. Sewell also secured the third place position aboard JASPER.

  • 2nd Place: Elizabeth Sanden-Mulvey & JACKPOT DES LOIRS [173]
  • 3rd Place: Sewell & JASPER [172]

Taking home the win in the $1,500 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix on Sunday was Nicole Oliynyk and CHEKANDINO, earning an 84 in the first round and an 85 in the handy round to total 169. This duo claimed first place by an impressive six points.

  • 3rd Place: Abigail Davis & GIO CANDIO [162]
