SAUGERTIES, NY (January 3, 2012) — HITS is proud to announce the return of long-time sponsor Purina Mills as the Official Feed for its 2012 horse show season that includes HITS Thermal, HITS Ocala, HITS Arizona, HITS Saugerties, HITS Culpeper and the Marshall & Sterling League National Finals.
At HITS Thermal, the $50,000 Purina Mills FEI World Cup Qualifier rolls into town on Saturday, February 25 during Desert Circuit IV. The class is sure to feature some of the top equestrians in the world, including Purina Mills’ sponsored rider Mandy Porter. In addition, Purina Mills will sponsor the After-Prix Party at the HITS bar immediately following the Grand Prix and celebrate with family, friends and the Purina Mills team!
On the East Coast, Purina Mills’ Weekend takes place during the Ocala Winter Finals and kicks off with the Purina Mills Pre-Prix Exhibitor Party on Friday night ,March 9 with food and fun for everyone, including a horse-less horse show! Purina Mills’ Kids’ Day, presented by Local Edge and Country103.7 FM The Gator, kicks off the Purina Mills fever on Sunday, March 11 and will feature live music by the Brion Kenyon Band, a petting zoo, a bounce house and special Purina riding exhibitions, including a fabulous miniature horse driving event, prior to the $50,000 Purina Mills Grand Prix.
And, of course, the Purina Mills Rider’s Bonus is back! This year, riders have the opportunity to win twice with their win of the Purina Mills Grand Prix at all HITS shows! If the winning rider in the Purina Mills Grand Prix can provide proof that she or he feeds Purina feed, the Grand Prix rider will win a free ton of feed, courtesy of HITS’ Official Feed, Purina Mills. PMI Exclusive Top Dog Competition on Tap for 2012
The Top Dog photo contest, sponsored by Exclusive™ pet food, awards a prize each week to the HITS Exhibitor that submits a photo of their horse show dog as the hardest working horse show companion dog at the show.
The Weekly Top Dog Winner will receive a prize pack worth $25 and all entries will be entered in the PMI Exclusive Overall Circuit Top Dog Grand Prize. The Grand Prize Winner will be determined the final Sunday of the HITS Thermal Show Series and the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit and will be awarded a year's supply of Exclusive™ dog food, plus a $50 prize package of dog supplies and gifts. The Overall Winner will be determined through individual email votes that open the final week of each Circuit.
The 2012 winter show jumping season for HITS Horse Shows begins in the Sunshine State when the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit gallops into town for two unrated weeks, starting with the Ocala January Classic, January 18-22, and then the Ocala January Festival, January 25-29, followed by seven consecutive weeks of AA-rated competition that will run from January 31 through March 18.
Out west, the 2012 HITS Desert Circuit will get underway on Tuesday, January 24 and will run for three consecutive weeks until Sunday, February 12. After a short break, February 13 - 19, show jumping returns on Tuesday, February 21 and will continue until Sunday, March 11.
