New jumps by Olaf Petersen, Sr. set to dazzle 2012 HITS Desert Circuit

THERMAL, CA (December 15, 2011) — In less than two months the 2012 HITS Desert Circuit in Thermal, California will kick off six weeks of world-class equestrian show jumping that will feature a brand new collection of jump equipment from world-class designer Olaf Petersen, Sr.

Petersen has a long and impressive resume that includes involvement in six consecutive Olympic Games as Course Designer, Steward, and Technical Coordinator, not to mention a seemingly endless list of experience at European Championships, World Cup Qualifiers and Finals, World Equestrian Games, Asian Games, Pan American Games, and a litany of Nations Cups. His work as a course and equipment designer has made him a legend and renowned all over the world.

The massive equipment order arriving at HITS Desert Horse Park includes designs from Petersen's new 2012 OP Collection of aluminum jumps in bold and striking colors. Two of the standout pieces are lively, winged verticals dressed in green leaves that stand tall at 1.75meters. Numerous elegant fences in ruby red and royal blue will bring a sharp burst of color to the courses at the HITS Desert Horse Park. But, it's probably the castle wall that will get the most attention and provide some intriguing versatility to the course setting in Thermal.

“The new equipment is quite nice and will work perfectly with how well the landscaping is maturing,” said Brian Morris, HITS Technical Director, who is already in California gearing up for the circuit. “Having this much new inventory to work with will enable us to keep a six-week circuit with 12 rings fresh and exciting for our customers. We've had some beautiful equipment from Olaf before and I know these new jumps will be very popular.”

The six-week HITS Desert Circuit is set to begin Tuesday, January 24 with three consecutive weeks of competition. After a short break, the action resumes for the final three weeks February 21 through March 11, when the $200,000 Lamborghini Grand Prix of the Desert, presented by Lamborghini of Newport Beach will close out the season.
