Open call for equine art for 2012 HITS Ocala and HITS Thermal Official Show Program covers

SAUGERTIES, NEW YORK (September 23, 2011) — HITS Inc. is pleased to announce its search for two dynamic pieces of equine artwork to grace the covers of the Official Show Programs for two of the most prestigious show jumping circuits in America — the HITS Thermal Desert Circuit in Thermal, California and the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit in Ocala, Florida.

Each season, the Official Show Program reaches thousands of horse enthusiasts from the country's top riders and trainers to guests and spectators. Filled with custom editorial geared toward the industry's premier professionals, juniors, amateurs and sponsors, the cover art is proudly featured as the bold centerpiece of the publication .

“Each year our Official Show Programs are not only an exceptional publication, but also serve as an information source and, for many, a souvenir of each circuit,” said Leslie Phillips, HITS Art Director. “Throughout the past several years, we have received tons of beautiful artwork from some of the most talented equine artists in the country. The range and quality of work that gets submitted has consistently been impressive and we're grateful that so many artists have taken advantage of this opportunity and continue to support us."

Artists are encouraged to send original pieces, including already existing artwork that best depicts the essence of the horse show, but is not prohibited to the hunter and jumper disciplines. Artwork that best resembles the respective HITS venues is preferred, but not required.

Requirements

  • 8.5 x11 Final Trim Size
  • Full Color, Black and White or Photography
  • HITS venue background preferred
  • High-resolution file to be sent electronically
  • The deadline for all eligible artwork will be December 2, 2011.

Equine artists are encouraged to explore the website at HitsShows.com for inspiration and knowledge of HITS' shows and venues. Artists interested in submitting artwork for consideration for the 2012 HITS Thermal and HITS Ocala Official Horse Show Program covers should contact Leslie Phillips by e-mail at Leslie@HitsShows.com.

HITS Ocala and HITS Thermal are two of the largest show jumping circuits in America. Last year, each venue held qualifiers for the two richest classes in American show jumping — the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix and the Diamond Mills $500,000 Hunter Prix Final. For the upcoming season, HITS will once again continue its tradition of excellence in producing some of the premier horse shows in the country with classes and special events for everyone, including qualifiers for the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix and the Diamond Mills $500,000 Hunter Prix Final. For 2012, HITS added a new event to its unparalleled finale and is proud to introduce the brand new $250,000 HITS 3' Hunter Prix Final, with qualifying opportunities at all five HITS Horse Show Circuits during the 2012 show season.

To keep the 3’ HITS Hunter Prix focused on its target audience, there will be significant cross entry restrictions for qualifying classes during the season as well as the Final. Detailed specifications and qualifying requirements will be available soon online at HitsShows.com.
