Listen up! The Wolf 94.3/97.3 returns as HITS' Official Radio Station for the 2009 HITS Saugerties series of horse shows

 
     
 

SAUGERTIES, NY (May 5, 2009)HITS is pleased to announce that The Wolf 94.3 FM/97.3 FM has been named its Official Radio Station for the 2009 HITS Saugerties series of horse shows beginning on Wednesday, May 20 at the HITS-on-the-Hudson facility in Saugerties, New York.

The Wolf will be at HITS-on-the-Hudson this spring for two very entertaining afternoons. First, the popular country station will be at the show grounds for the second-annual HITS-on-the-Hudson Classic Car Showcase on Saturday, May 23. Then, The Wolf will return for a day of family fun and entertainment during the Purina Mills Kids Day on Sunday, June 7.

During the summer series of horse shows that begin in mid-July, the radio station returns for the Village of Saugerties Block Party on July 17 and for another on-site broadcast during The World of the Horse celebration on Sunday, August 30. The World of the Horse extravaganza will feature numerous breeds that will be represented in a colorful parade sure to delight horse lovers of all ages.

For the second year, The Wolf is conducting an area-wide contest to select a talented local singer to sing the Star-Spangled Banner prior to the $125,000 Strongid C2 X Grand Prix on August 2. The Wolf 94.3 FM/97.3 FM National Anthem Contest is underway and will run throughout the season on The Wolf. For more information on the contest, tune into The Wolf 94.3/97.3 or click here.

This year's HITS Saugerties Spring and Summer Series will offer even more for hunter and jumper competitors including increased prize money and special Classics.

For High Performance riders, more than $1 million in prize money will be handed out over the course of the spring and summer series in the Open Jumper division. There are four Open Jumper classes each week, including two grand prix classes. Junior and Amateur jumpers will see their divisions and Classics split each week with $5,000 awarded in the Low Classic and $10,000 in the High Classic weekly. The Children's and Adult jumpers will have a $10,000 Classic on weeks I and IV, as well as their regular Classics the other weeks.

There's something special for the hunters too, as the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby and the $5,000 Pony Commotion take place week VI. $50,000 in prize money will be awarded at the 2009 USEF Junior Hunter East Coast Championships on July 27, and equitation riders will have a chance to compete in the prestigious Hunterdon Cup on July 28. Children's and Adult hunters each will have an opportunity to show in a special Classic as one of the feature classes of the evening schedule. Check the schedule for other special Classics featured each week on Friday and Saturday evenings.
