SAUGERTIES, NY (May 13, 2009)—HITS is pleased to announce that the popular local
children’s band Ratboy Jr. will be performing during the annual Purina Mills
Kids Day on Sunday, June 7 at HITS’ equestrian facility in Saugerties, New
York.
Ratboy
Jr. is a rocking duo for all ages with Tim Sutton on vocals and Matt Senzatimore
on drums and keyboard. They perform energetic, catchy and sometimes
improvised tunes. Ratboy Jr. has become known for their humorous banter on stage
and catchy, insightful lyrics. They sing songs that get stuck in your head
about emus, garbage men and family road trips. This is music for kids who want
to rock out and for parents who want to kick it old school on the dance
floor.
Earlier this year, Ratboy Jr. was handpicked
to be the house band for the Kidtopia series for a local independent
radio station in Woodstock, New York and recently made their New York City
debut at Bowery Poetry Kids. They are
currently filling up their spring and summer calendar with festival bookings,
including this year's Mountain Jam Festival, The Clearwater Festival and The
Rosendale Street Festival. Timmy and
Matty have played with such big kids as The Ramones, Uncle Rock, Pete Seeger,
Dog on Fleas, and Bob Dorough (School House Rock). Ratboy Jr. is also making it
to the airwaves and has been played on Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child, Gooney
Bird Kids, WDST and WKZE.
"We are so excited to be part of the
Kids Day, this will be our first time at HITS and we can’t wait,” said Sutton,
who is a Saugerties native. “We heard there are going to be Olympians there… maybe
we can get them to sing about monkeys with us... maybe? We are glad to do our
part to help raise money for a great organization like Family of Woodstock,
they do such great work. When Matty heard that there's going to be a $125,000
Grand Prix he wanted to enter. I said ‘Matty we are Ratboy Jr., not Horse Race
Sr.’!”
“We may not know about horses, but we know
how to play some tunes and have a great time,” continued Sutton. “I don’t know
who will win the Grand Prix, but I know anyone who comes to listen to us at HITS
on Kids Day will feel like a winner. I can’t believe I just said that!" For

“We are very excited to welcome Ratboy Jr.
into the fold for this year’s Purina Mills Kids Day,” said Danette Kadlic of
the HITS Marketing Team. “We’ve been hearing great things about their
performances at Kidtopia and we thought they would be a fabulous addition to
the Kids Day schedule of activities. I’ve been listening to their CD for the
past several weeks; my daughter Chloe just loves the ‘monkey’ song!”
In
addition to the musical performance, Kids Day will
be filled with family fun and entertainment, including clowns, a slide,
a
bounce house, arts & crafts and loads of fun. When Kids Day
concludes,
spectators are encouraged to watch some of the best competitors in the
world compete for the top prize in the $125,000 Purina Mills Grand
Prix. Some of
the riders expected to compete in the featured class on Sunday, June 7
include
two-time United States Gold Medal Winner McLain Ward, and fellow
Olympians Nona
Garson, Leslie Howard, Chris Kappler and Margie Engle. After the Grand
Prix,
kids will have a chance to meet the riders up close and personal during
a
special Grand Prix rider autograph and photo session.
Equestrians love nothing more than to compete before
an energized crowd! So, HITS is offering a special $5 lunch coupon to all
children who arrive in groups of 10 or more and stay for the Grand Prix on June
7. This is a perfect opportunity for
school groups, including clubs, sports teams and community service groups to
enjoy a great and inexpensive day out. For more information on the group lunch
offer, please contact Chris Mayone at 845.246.8833 or via e-mail at media_info@HitsShows.com.
Purina Mills Kids Day will take place on Sunday, June 7 from 12 pm until 2 pm
and admission

12 and under and seniors 65 and older are admitted free. Parking for spectators
is free and located at gate E, which is directly across from the Kiwanis Ice

The HITS equestrian facility is nestled at the

Saugerties. The facility offers an on-site food service pavilion, and an ice

The HITS Bar and Grill serves up pizza and cold beer in a spacious
air-conditioned lounge. Spectators can grab some lunch and find a grassy spot
on the berms while watching some of the world's best show jumping with the
entire family right here in the Hudson Valley.

jumping can watch the horse show farrier put new shoes on a horse and even tour
