SAUGERTIES, NY(July 28, 2008)--The classic cars rolled into HITS-on-the-Hudson for its inaugural HITS-on-the-Hudson Classic Car Showcase and according to the crowd no ride was finer than Robert Pugliese's 1958 Chevy Impala.
Pugliese's orange and white beauty took home the HITS Horse Power Trophy, which was awarded to the crowd's favorite car. "I was very pleased and surprised to receive the prize for the most popular classic car! Combining the two events was a great idea - there was something for everyone. There was horsepower and horse power," said
Robert Pugliese.
The HITS-on-the-Hudson Classic Car Showcase was a benefit for Family of Woodstock, Inc. and netted the organization over $1,000 in car registration fees for the 52 participating cars and admission for spectators.
The fun at HITS Saugerties is not over! Another must see at HITS Saugerties this summer is The World of the Horse. The World of the Horse extravaganza returns to HITS-on-the-Hudson for a fourth year. Numerous breeds will be represented in a colorful parade sure to delight horse lovers of all ages.
New to this years World of the Horse will be the arrival of the Exmoor ponies. They are the oldest and purist of the British native pony breeds. Other breeds expected to participate are the miniature horse, Palomino and Paso Fino There will also be a special dressage demonstration by Louisa Eadie of Roseview Dressage.
The World of the Horse will take place on Sunday, August 10 at around noon. Immediately following the World of the Horse, some of the top competitors in the World will take aim at the top prize in the $50,000 In the Woods Log Homes Grand Prix.
The HITS equestrian facility is nestled at the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, just one mile outside the village of Saugerties. The facility offers an on-site food service pavilion, an ice cream parlor featuring an assortment of frozen delights and Starbucks® coffee.
