WHAT IS THE MARSHALL & STERLING INSURANCE LEAGUE?
The Marshall & Sterling Insurance League was first designed to encourage and enhance the competition level of Children's and Adult riders by providing the opportunity to qualify for a prestigious National Finals competition. For over two decades, the Marshall & Sterling Insurance League has stayed at the forefront of hunter/jumper competition, having grown from 10 member shows and approximately 100 riders in 1991, to over 1,300 horse shows and more than 2,300 riders today.

WHAT IS CHANGING FOR 2014?
The League continues to focus on the four divisions that started the League: Children's Hunters, Children's Jumpers, Adult Hunters and Adult Jumpers. We also showcase the very successful Sore No More Children's Horse Medal, M&S Children's Pony Medals, the M&S Adult Medal, the M&S Junior Medal, and the popular Child and Adult 2'6" Medal and 3'3" Horsemanship Medal. Add to these the Adequan Hunter, the Bit O' Straw Hunter, and the HITS Hunter 1(2'0") and HITS Hunter 2 (2'6") and you have a total of 18 divisions that will be the featured events at this year's Finals.

The qualifying period for 2014 is August 28, 2013 - August 24, 2014.

HOW DO EXHIBITORS QUALIFY FOR THE FINALS?
Hunters and Jumpers:
Horses will qualify based on points earned in their division during the qualifying period. A horse's points will be recorded only if the rider of record is a current League member. A horse may accrue points in any division for which it is eligible, and may accrue points in multiple divisions, with multiple riders, provided the rider of record is a current League member.

Equitation:
Points follow the rider. Riders must be members in order for their points to count.

HOW ARE POINTS CALCULATED?
Points are awarded to the horse, provided the rider is a League member. Points will be awarded to sixth place in each division in the same manner as Hunter Championships (i.e.; 10, 6, 4, 2, 1, ½). Points will be awarded on this scale regardless of the number of entries in the class. Points will be awarded according to the ribbon won. Bonus Points will be awarded to the Champion (10 pts) and Reserve Champion (6 pts.) in each Hunter division (With the exception of the Bit O' Straw Hunters). Only horses shown by Member Riders will have their points recorded.

WHEN WILL MY POINTS BE POSTED?
In accordance with their contract with the Marshall & Sterling Insurance League, shows have three weeks to report results to the League office. Show results will then be posted to the website standings within one week from the time they are received. Updates to the website standings are made weekly, typically on Friday afternoon. It is important for members to check the"Results Posted" section on the website standings page to see if the shows they attended have sent their results to the League. Members should contact any show whose results are past -due.

DO ALL EXHIBITORS NEED TO BECOME MEMBERS OF THE LEAGUE?
Riders must be members of the Marshall & Sterling Insurance League in order for points to count. Non-members may compete in any M&S class, however, points will not be awarded to them. Memberships will be backdated 10 days from the day they are received. Points will not be retroactive.
