Hunter, Jumper and Equitation competition is a wrap at the HITS Culpeper July Series. Located right in the Heart of Virginia’s Horse Country, Commonwealth Park is a treat for exhibitors. Whether you are shipping in or staying on the grounds, there is room for grazing, trail riding, and just enjoying the view. HITS has entered its third decade at Commonwealth Park as the host to six weeks of USEF-Rated competition, from April through September, with classes for every level rider. Exhibitors were welcomed from near and far for a week of fun and blue ribbons at the Cavalier Classic.

The week kicked-off with the $5,000 HITS Open Welcome in the Grand Prix Ring where we really did save the best for last. Winn Alden and ALTEZZA DU JARDIN were the last to enter the ring and they flew across the timers to take home the blue ribbon in a time of 42.323.

2nd Place: Tracy Magness & INTENZ VAN HD (43.935)
3rd Place: Ann DeMichele & CANMORE 2 (47.884)

Magness joined the Winner’s Circle aboard INTENZ VAN HD and accepted the first place award in the $10,000 Johnson Horse Transportation Prix Friday afternoon. Moving up from her second place finish earlier in the week, Magness crossed the timers in 35.770 to secure the victory.

2nd Place: Cian McDermott & FELICIANO VAN DOL OTTERDIJK (38.124)
3rd Place: McDermott & NEWCASTLE (35.429, 4-Faults)
Kicking off Sunday morning with a blue ribbon in the $2,000 Marshall & Sterling Child/Adult Jumper Classic was Wendy Libert and PAPILLION PEANUT.

Robert Matz took top honors in the $2,500 Jr/A-O/Am 1.20m Jumper Classic for his ride aboard HENRI VH AKENHOF.

For the second week in a row, Lucy Matz won the $4,000 Pyranha Jr/A-O/Am 1.30m Jumper Classic aboard BAILEY VI.

Agustin Rosales jumped to first and second place in the $20,000 Purina Animal Nutrition Open Prix at the HITS Culpeper Cavalier Classic. The blue sky was a perfect backdrop on Sunday afternoon as Rosales crossed the timers in 45.640 CAPELIUS S.

3rd Place: Magness & INTENZ VAN HD (47.506)

 
The feature classes continued in the Main Hunter Ring where riders joined us in the Winner's Circle for the Devoucoux and Platinum Performance Hunter Prix. Blue ribbons and qualifying points for the HITS Championship, which can be accumulated at any HITS show throughout the year, were awarded in each class.

Winn Alden took the victory in the $1,500 Devoucoux Hunter Prix for the the second week in arow, this time aboard CONSTELLATION. A score of 86 in each round, for a total of 172 secured the lead in the featured class in the Main Hunter Ring this week.

3rd Place: Amy Zettler & PRIMROSE PATH (146)

Next, Junior and Amateur riders would take to the course in the $1,000 Platinum Performance Hunter Prix. Jordyn Holcomb joined the Winner's Circle to be presented the first place award for her ride aboard KING CITY. Holcomb scored an 84 in each of her rounds for a total score of 168 to claim the blue ribbon.

3rd Place: Paige Jadick & RAMONE (158.5)
HITS Culpeper is host to the Culpeper Equitation Classic, a class is designed for Junior, Amateur, Children, and Adult riders showing at 3’ or 3’6”. The rider who accumulates that most points throughout the season will automatically qualify for their respective Medal Final at the Marshall & Sterling Insurance League National or Indoor Finals. Elizabeth Carter took home the first place ribbon in the Culpeper Equitation Class.

The HITS Championship is held annually in Saugerties, New York and features the Saugerties $500,000 Grand Prix FEI CSI5* and four more high-stakes Finals, making the HITS Championship one of the richest weeks in show jumping.
