  Tickets are now on sale for the "Hors'n Around Saugerties Merry Go Round Gala" which will be held at the HITS showgrounds on Saturday, Sept 12.  The "champagne preview" of the carousel horses, which are currently lining the streets of the Village of Saugerties, begins with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar at 6:30 p.m.   During the preview, guests will also have the opportunity to take part in the silent auction of SAGE (Saugerties is About Growth Experience) "painted ponies"  which were created by local elementary and secondary school students.  The 46 fiberglass carousel horses of "Hors'n Around Saugerties" feature decoration with Quadricentennial themes, and were created by some of our area's most well known and prestigious artists, including KL McKenna, Ze'ev Willie Neumann, Kristy Bishop, Alex Kveton, Jean Campbell, Angela Gaffney-Smith, Mark Smith, Isaac Abrams, Steve Heller and Nancy Campbell.  Barry Cherwin of Saugerties will be auctioneer.

HITS will be hosting the gala at their beautiful showgrounds, in the VIP pavilion.  Earlier in the day, HITS' jumping competition will feature the prestigious Marshall & Sterling finals.  In addition, the New England Dressage Association will be holding their Region 8 finals.  Visitors to the "Merry Go Round Gala" may want to arrive early for a chance to watch these world class equestrian events.  The "Hors'n Around" carousel horses will be displayed at HITS during the week before the auction.  During weekdays, admission to the HITS showgrounds is free.

Proceeds from the live auction will be divided among the Saugerties Council of Churches (for their food pantry), which will receive the largest portion, the Saugerties Area Chamber of Commerce, and the artists who created the horses.

Proceeds from the silent auction of SAGE ponies will be donated to the SAGE organization.
